Inuyashiki

Review:

So much wasted potential. It starts off as a really nice concept and quickly drifts into a manga full of senseless violence. I don't mind violence in manga (of course) but I hate it when authors use it for no reason. A lot of the plot points didn't make sense - how the hell did the police find out Shishigami was the killer? He didn't leave any evidence and there was no apparent weapon... it felt like the mangaka did this just for the sake of moving the story into the senseless violence. Shishigami's character straight up makes no sense - what's his motivation? Inuyashiki is quite possibly the most useless "hero" ever - he just stands around while people around him are dying. And then the ending was not great (again, Shishigami's character made no sense). Even the highlight of the manga, the art, had flaws. While I appreciate how some of the double spread pages look like animations as you turn the page, alot of the character designs were just awkward. In quite a few panels the character heads seemed too big for their bodies. I think I'm rambling on now, but overall I'm really disappointed with this one.
