Description:

In the early twentieth century, Russo-Japanese War veteran Saichi “Immortal” Sugimoto scratches out a meager existence during the postwar gold rush in the wilderness of Hokkaido. When he stumbles across a map to a fortune in hidden Ainu gold, he sets off on a treacherous quest to find it. But Sugimoto is not the only interested party, and everyone who knows about the gold will kill to possess it! Review:

I have some mixed feelings for this one. Certain arcs were great in particular the bear man arc and the ending (a few others too that I can't name) but there were some parts that didn't make much sense (most of Hijikatas story line to be honest). Whilst I liked Tsurumi's character as the villain, he can be a bit odd sometimes and his "lackeys" were quite annoying. By the end of the manga they had no reason to fight for him (he even manipulated them to work for him) but they still carried on supporting him, which made no sense to me. Overall it wasn't bad, but it also wasn't great. Had its high points but also its lows. A solid 6/10.
